Do I need to have an email for my contractors?

No. If you don't have a contractor's email, simply enter addlater@noemail.com in the email field.

 

Note: You can add the email address later. See the following question.

How can I update my contractor's email address?

Because contractor's (payee's) don't have a dashboard, it is possible to update their email easily.

 

Follow these steps:

1. In your dashboard click on the Contractor Recipients Tab.

2. Select the name of the contractor whose email you want to update.

3. Add the modification in the Payee Email section.

4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Submit button.

Once I manually enter the contractor's data, based on their W-9, will the contractor receive an email requesting verification of their information?

If you choose the manual option, we highly recommend confirming directly with your contractor

that their W-9 information is correct before you begin filing, as we do not send emails requesting

verification of information.

 

Note: If you already have their W-9 data confirmed, you don't necessarily need the contractor

to complete the W-9.

Does the contractor have their own dashboard or access to the platform?

No. The contractor doesn't have their own dashboard or access to the platform.

Yet, they do have access to their 1099s.

Will the contractor receive an email confirming that their 1099-NEC was filed?

They do not receive a confirmation email, but when the return is filed, the contractor does

receive an email saying, "Here is a single-use link where you can download your 1099."

 

Note: They will need to put in their social security number (SSN) in order to download it.

So rest assured that it is secure. 

Do we get a copy of the 1099-NEC?

Yes, the 1099 PDF is always available in your dashboard. No more dealing with lost or misplaced filed 1099s.
